We recommend the following hikes in and around Vail:
Gore Creek Path: This is an easy walking path that spans 1.8 miles from West Vail to Vail Village. The same path used to get from Lionshead Village to Vail Village, a great morning walk or rent bikes and cruise alongside the creek.
Strawberry Lane: A moderately challenging out & back hike in Vail Village starting right by Gondola One. 2.7 miles total and amazing views.
Berrypicker Trail: This is a very challenging hike with 2,200 elevation gain. Hike to the top of Eagle Bahn gondola and then take the gondola down the mountain for free. The trailhead is to the right of the Eagle Bahn gondola and across the bridge.
Booth Falls: A well-known Vail hike, considered a challenging trail. About 4 miles out and back with 1,300 elevation gain. There is a shuttle that will take you to the trailhead, since there is no parking at the entrance of the hike.
If you want to enjoy the views of hiking without the effort (as Nan & Happy would do), buy a gondola ticket and have a drink and appetizer at the top of the mountain. You can buy these tickets across from Eagle Bahn gondola.
There are many other trails around Vail, use AllTrails.com for details on each hike.
Please remember that you are much higher in altitude when you are in Vail (8,150 feet)...it is recommended visitors drink 2-3x as much water as they normally do at home. Please bring plenty of water with you if you choose to hike.
There are so many fun summer activities to do in and right outside of Vail!Â
